Erm... that is wrong. All major Hollywood DVDs are encoded as progressive full frames at 23.976fps. The interlacing you are seeing is the result of adding pulldown frames to pad it out to 29.97 interlaced for NTSC. And since they are encoded anamorphically, it uses the full 720x480 and depending on your output display, either gets letterboxed or stretched wide on a real 16:9 HDTV.
Are iTS movies letterboxed? If so, then the quality of iTS movies is closer to 640x360.

I actually agree. Pull 'em. It may be censorship, but it's dangerous not to.
I strongly disagree. I often have to transport my infant during the evening hours on weekends and rely on a similar app to plot the safest route to my destination. I WANT to know which streets have been "sanitized" of drunk drivers just so I can take them. My cargo is too precious to risk otherwise. This app is for our SAFETY.

Herp derp. Im pretty sure there will be a minor spec bump as well, and exterior design in a laptop is a pretty important feature or a "function and should be taken in consideration just as well (or not even more) than a new "ixy procesor" and a "8650 gt mx" graphics card, which in most cases just serve as a hard on for spec geeks.

Specs are what truly matter. If the chassis is designed to be sturdier, more rigid, and more durable, and easier to service than these models, that's a great upgrade. If it's only a stark cosmetic change, then that's not at all worth going nuts over, unless you, like many (but certainly not all) Apple customers, are superficial like that. Newer processors and better graphics DO matter as we use our computers for apps, and beyond using a freakin' web browser and running Word a lot of these apps demand the hardware to run them. And if they don't now, they will eventually. That's how computers work? Or are you still repping the Titanium PowerBook G4 yourself?

Why am I not surprised ... At least in this case the data is stored on my devices. We all know that cell phone locations are being tracked (and stored somewhere out of my reach) - whoever doen't want anybody else to 'track' the location anyway shouldn't have a cell phone (or only a cheap prepaid one that he payed in cash for) ... I travel a lot around the world and it was pretty cool to see those maps of my travels and hit the 'play' button.

Let's hope there is the ability to import large address books with multiple contact numbers. Most cell phones allow you up to 500 contacts; some up to 1,000 (with a maximum of three numbers per contact).
The memory is there for the music, allow Power Users the choice of dedicating it to contact numbers and other data. The only other option is to carry around a bulky PDA phone.

Examples are shipments get delayed. Takes longer to process orders.
Apple needs to rush order something and get it quickly..... Guess what not going to happen.
I have seen the back world of things like this. Samsung can do a lot with out breaking the contract. Apple is gaining a reputation not to be trusted in any way shape or form.

Apple has the iPhone and untouchable mindshare.

Samsung is just sabre-rattling. This in fact, will have ZERO effect on their supply agreements with Apple. It's about a phone. Samsung isn't going to sacrifice their $5+ billion partner when consumers can't get enough of all things Apple. Samsung needs Apple's business.
With that in mind, the fact that Apple insists on fostering negative energy, launching a law suit, and showing their pro war position to the world, is very revealing of who they are.
Unable to be a good corporate citizen, unable to satisfy their greed as they rake in more profits than the competition, Apples looking rather desperate. Nothing will ever be enough.

Having been bitten numerous times by McAfee, I never believe their press releases.
Way back, I subscribed to their virus and firewall software. I tested the firewall, and it worked. Until they updated it to a slicker looking interface. Some sixth sense made me test it again, and bingo, my computer was exposed. McAfee customer "support" was not interested. They had my annual subscription, and that was all they wanted.
After ripping all McAfee code out of my PC, I was dismayed to find that my employer signed up for McAfee products.
Months and months of slow PC, followed by bricking thousands of employee PCs with their encryption-at-rest software.

Likely not. The last 21.5 had Mini Display Port, and could not be used as an external monitor. Would be nice though.

I thought 10 Mega Pixels were possible with some tech that is suppose to arrive at the end of this year for phones.
The weak link is the lens. Basic physics says that the resolving power of a lens is proportional to it's diameter divided by the wavelenght of light. Light is not going to change any time soon so if you want to get a clear sharp image you need a certain physical diametr lens. If for some reason you can't have a big lens then what's the point of using a 10MP sensor? Actually if the device is size constrained using fewer pixels on the same size sensor (larger pixels) will improve low light performance. Bottom line: There is an optimum number of pixels, more is not better.
On the other hand if you are selling to un-educated buyers "we got more MPs" is good for marketing purposes even if it is counter productive on technical grounds

Anyway, I think too much of the focus is on the technical details of this mysterious Airport Express box. I'm wondering if Apple's "Big New Thing" isn't so much the gadgets, but the notion of entertainment moving from being something you have shovelled to you from your cable/satellite guy, to a true a la carte system, delivered via the Internet.
What's interesting about the rumours are that they point at products and services that build an infrastructure for something, not products that are particularly interesting by themselves. I can stream media to TVs already (albeit with cables.) I can buy movies, hell, the pr0n industry has pretty much pioneered in this realm and made the concept provable. Less controvertially, there have been attempts to sell movies online serveral times over the last few years. These are all products that already exist.
Apple's products may well actually turn this into a general collection of concepts into a major new drive, in much the same way as DVDs have changed the way we watch TV, and DVRs, and, indeed, twenty-thirty years ago, cable and satellite did.
It'll be interesting to see if they succeed. Don't be surprised if most of the coverage after the event is negative. The real test will be in the coming years.

I meant return window..its just one day. Im not sure about the return but just give it a shot. If they ask, tell them you'd like to buy the new version. Be polite but firm as much as possible and you should be fine. Worst case scenario is they say no BUT you won't feel bad because you're current iPod is definately not out of date from what i see today

Yeah, but not if it's locked. I had to call up my provider and beg for my unlock code so that I could use *my* phone in Asia, and then they said yes, and never sent it to me. Call them back, and...well..rinse, repeat.
What about people like me who travel a lot and want to pop in SIM cards in other places? I'm sick and tired of the U.S. market and all of its stupid contract / vendor lock-in ********.
Pity to see Apple on that bandwagon; I hope they just sell the phone in the Apple Store unlocked, and let us choose the carrier we want.
But then they need to build two different phones based on two different sets of components and it would end up being too expensive in the end. Yes, the provider of the service will give you the unlock code for when you want to travel, but Apple and any other company that makes a cell phone will never be able to sell unlocked phones in this country and allow you to choose which provider you want. Nokia is trying it now at their two stores in Chicago and New York, but I can tell you that it's not going to work.
